Privacy Policy
This page explains what data PlateMap uses, which cookies it sets, and the choices you have. PlateMap is run by PlateMap management.
Data on this device
Your pantry ingredients, saved recipes, shopping list, language and theme are stored in this browser (local storage). They are not sent to us. Clearing the site data in your browser removes them.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, a Google service, to count visits and understand how the site is used. It records the pages you view, your browser and device type, and your approximate location. We also send a few events: how many ingredients you chose and how many recipes matched, which recipe you opened, and language switches. We do not send your name or email.
Page addresses are recorded in full, so a shared ingredient link (for example ?i=chicken, rice) reaches Google Analytics with those ingredient names. According to Google, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.

Cookies
_ga and _ga_*: set by Google Analytics to tell visits apart. They last up to 2 years.
platemap-locale: remembers the language you chose, for 1 year.
Sign-in cookies from Supabase Auth: set only if you sign in to an existing account, and removed when you sign out.
Advertising (planned)
The site does not show ads today. We plan to show ads from Google AdSense. When ads are enabled, Google and its partners will use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. We will update this page before ads appear, and visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent first.
You can turn off personalized Google ads at https://adssettings.google.com and opt out of other vendors at https://www.aboutads.info/choices
Existing accounts
Existing-account sign-in uses Supabase Auth. Account data is kept separate from device data. New registration and password recovery are currently unavailable.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Vercel. Loading a page sends the requests needed to serve it, and Vercel keeps standard request logs. Recipe images are served from the site itself.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and stop Google Analytics with Google's opt-out add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
The Account page offers a download of your data. Clearing browser data does not delete a server account.
